The Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) continues to see record-breaking passenger counts this summer. In June 2021, the number of people arriving on flights, or deplanements, totaled 230,333 compared to 170,059 in 2019. Total passenger traffic, which includes both arriving and departing passengers, totaled 451,750, a 35.2% increase from 334,340 passengers in June 2019, MYR’s previous best June on record.

Travel is booming in Myrtle Beach, and the city’s largest carrier is celebrating 25 years of service by stepping up with more bright yellow planes to meet the demand. Spirit Airlines (NYSE: SAVE) confirmed its summer schedule will offer nearly 200 flights each week with nonstop service to 19 destinations—which represents a 40 percent increase in flights compared to the carrier’s 2019 service levels at Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR).

The third annual Myrtle Beach Invitational will be played November 18, 19 and 21 at the HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., featuring Davidson (Atlantic 10), East Carolina (American), Indiana State (Missouri Valley), New Mexico State (Western Athletic), Oklahoma (Big 12), Old Dominion (Conference USA), Penn (Ivy) and Utah State (Mountain West).

The Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) is on track for a record-breaking summer as passenger volumes continue to climb. 2019 was previously their best recorded year for traffic. In April 2021, the number of people arriving on flights, or deplanements, totaled 108,304 compared to 107,488 in 2019.
