Myrtle Beach Selected to Host Two NCAA Competitions, Boosting Local Economy

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) proudly announce the NCAA has selected Myrtle Beach for the 2027 Division I Men’s Golf Regionals and the 2028 Division III Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Coastal Carolina University (CCU) will serve as the host institution for both events.

Chris Gotterup accepted the winner’s trophy at the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic, but he wasn’t the only winner at the area’s first-ever PGA TOUR event. The tournament was a big hit, drawing more than 40,000 spectators during a week of ideal weather that helped showcase the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. In addition, nine local charities shared $225,000, with seven of those receiving at least $26,750.

ESPN Events Reveals Field for 2024 Myrtle Beach Invitational

The field for the 2024 Myrtle Beach Invitational is set and will feature three schools that participated in the 2024 National Invitational Tournament - Bradley (Missouri Valley), Princeton (Ivy), and South Florida (American Athletic).

Middle Tennessee (Conference USA), Ohio (Mid-American), Portland (West Coast), Texas State (Sun Belt), and Wright State (Horizon League) will also be competing in the sixth annual event.

Myrtle Beach to Host Second-Annual Boost at the Beach Esports Competition

Visit Myrtle Beach is proud to present the second annual collegiate esports competition, Boost at the Beach, March 8-10, 2024, at The Hangout in Myrtle Beach.

This year’s event has doubled in team size from six schools last year to 12 this year. Teams include two South Carolina universities, Clemson and South Carolina, along with Harrisburg, George Mason, Georgia State, Maryville, Michigan State, Northeastern, Ole Miss, Syracuse, UNC Charlotte and West Virginia.

Nine local social service charities have been selected to receive a grant from revenue generated by the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic, scheduled May 6-12 at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, meaning the event will not only showcase the Grand Strand, but also benefit the area. A total of $225,000 will be allocated for 2024.
