Visit Myrtle Beach Wins National Telly Award for Comedic Commercial

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—Visit Myrtle Beach is honored to announce the organization has received a 2024 Silver Telly Award for its humorous “Dad Save” commercial in the “Use of Comedy - Regional TV” category.

Now in its 45th year, The Telly Awards are the world’s largest recognition for video and television across all screens with winners spanning the globe from independent production studios to major brands like ESPN, Pepsi, PlayStation, the NFL and many more.

“The caliber of the work this season has truly reflected the theme of going beyond the frame. Our industry is experimenting with new technologies and crafting compelling stories in multiple mediums,” shares Telly Awards Managing Director Amanda Needham. “The Telly Awards are uniquely positioned to meet the industry where it’s actually making work, be that on television or TikTok.”

Visit Myrtle Beach collaborated with The Workshop, Valiant Pictures and FreshFly to produce a series of cross-platform spots for its “Beach With the Best” campaign, which encourages families to enjoy an especially rewarding beach vacation by excelling at common activities. Each story is told through a news segment where two hilarious TV anchors narrate the serendipitous summertime moments of vacationers.

In the “Dad Save” commercial, a doting father heroically catches his daughter’s falling ice cream while applying sunscreen to another child, only to then spill his own dessert.

“It’s often the simplest moments in life that people find most relatable and amusing,” said Visit Myrtle Beach Chief Marketing Officer Stuart Butler. “The ‘Beach With The Best’ advertisements use observational humor to highlight Myrtle Beach’s relaxed atmosphere, showcasing how the beach is a welcoming space for families to be their best selves.”
