MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—The Myrtle Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce that the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) has presented Visit Myrtle Beach with their annual Tourism Office of the Year award.
The recognition is one of sixteen Shining Example Awards given to tourism organizations, businesses or individuals during the society’s annual Connections conference held in Concord, N.C., Sept. 6-9. The Shining Example Awards Program, an industry fixture since 1985, recognizes outstanding contributions to travel and tourism within the Southeast United States.
Competing against CVBs across 13 states in the Southeast, Visit Myrtle Beach was named Tourism Office of the Year for the category representing large destination marketing organizations with annual budgets over $1 million. Visit Oxford (Mississippi) received the award for the small-market budget category of under $1 million.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by STS for this award. Everyone involved at the Myrtle Beach Area CVB is extremely passionate about sharing all that The Beach has to offer, connecting with visitors and welcoming them here. Tourism drives our local economy, and it’s an honor to contribute to our local community,” said Stuart Butler, chief marketing officer for the CVB.
Along with Tourism Office of the Year, additional award categories include Attraction of the Year, Festival of the Year, Best Marketing, Rising Star, Chairman of the Board and other recognitions.
STS’ mission is to strengthen the economic vitality of the Southeast by uniting all segments of the travel and tourism industry through the four pillars of education, advocacy, recognition and networking.
