The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau (MBACVB) won the Destination Award during the Routes Americas 2020 awards ceremony Feb. 5 in Indianapolis, Ind.
The annual Routes Americas Awards recognize excellence in airport marketing as chosen by airline professionals.
“We’re thrilled to be chosen for this award and to have our tourism-related air service marketing efforts recognized,” said Karen Riordan, president & CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Our partnership with the airport is extremely important as we are all working for a common goal as a destination – to bring more first-time visitors to Myrtle Beach each year.”
The CVB marketing team routinely joins Myrtle Beach International Airport staff at air service development meetings with airline planners to present research-based marketing services in an effort to secure new non-stop service and grow capacity on existing routes.
“As a CVB we support the airport’s efforts to add air service to ensure our visitors have easy access to our destination,” said Riordan. “This includes routinely marketing our destination in those regions where MYR has non-stop flights. And our efforts are paying off as we see the number of deplanements continue to grow year-over-year. Our team is committed to seeing that trend continue.”
In addition to the MBACVB’s award, the Myrtle Beach International Airport received the award for the Under 4 Million Passenger category and best overall winner of the Routes Americas 2020 Awards.
