MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.— College basketball is back at the beach with ESPN Events’ third annual Myrtle Beach Invitational being held Nov. 18, 19 and 21 at the HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University (CCU) in Conway, S.C. The three-day tournament will match up post-season participants from eight conference leagues, including Atlantic 10, American Athletic Conference, Ivy League and the Big 12 to name a few.
The participating teams include two from North Carolina, Davidson and East Carolina, as well as Old Dominion, Penn, Oklahoma, Indiana State, New Mexico State and Utah State. The full bracket can be found online at MyrtleBeachInvite.com. While all 12 games will be broadcast live on the ESPN family of networks, spectators are encouraged to watch in person by purchasing tickets in advance or at the door.
“The Myrtle Beach Invitational showcases our area to those watching on ESPN networks as well as the teams and fans visiting the area. This tournament also provides an immediate economic boom for our area all while providing locals with the opportunity to watch high-level NCAA Division I Basketball in their own back yard,” said Jonathan Paris, Executive Director of Sports Tourism for Visit Myrtle Beach.
New this year, Horry County elementary students from Carolina Forest Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, Ocean Drive Elementary, Palmetto Academy and Socastee Elementary created “Welcome To Myrtle Beach” cards for each player on the eight teams. The Visit Myrtle Beach program provided a special memento for the players and allowed the students to learn more about college-level athletic competitions.
Additionally, ESPN Events will run special promotions for the Beach Ball Classic during invitational games, allowing the 40-year-old volleyball tournament to receive additional exposure.
The Myrtle Beach Invitational is currently slated to be held at CCU’s HTC Center through 2024.
