The International Chili Society (ICS) has announced that the Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place will be the official event site for the 54th Annual World Championship Chili Cook Off (WCCC) in Myrtle Beach, S.C. September 17-19, 2021 (rescheduled from initial dates of April 9 -11, 2021), WCCC event organizers will transform this central location on Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand into a chili lover’s paradise.
The event site will include numerous built in activities such as a Family Fun Zone where guests can participate in family friendly challenges; a relaxing beer garden that will offer an array of different craft and special brews; a main stage that will host a slew of activities, including a hot pepper eating contest and live music; and the ever popular People’s Choice Chili Competition, which allows event attendees to sample and vote for numerous chili dishes.
In addition to all the entertainment housed right on the event grounds, event attendees and chili competitors will be surrounded by a host of restaurants, shopping, amusement parks, and the iconic Myrtle Beach SkyWheel - one of the country’s tallest Ferris wheels.
Perhaps best of all for the 200+ Chilheads who will be making the trip to Myrtle Beach, having Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place as the event site allows event organizers the ability to offer onsite parking for chili cooks who are cooking in the WCCC.
“We could not be more excited about this venue,” said Mike McCloud President and CEO of ICS. “You just can’t ask for a better backdrop than South Carolina's Atlantic Coast. There are numerous attractions and hotel options within walking distance or a short drive. We think Chiliheads are going to be impressed with this year’s event site and all that Myrtle Beach has to offer.”
Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place is no stranger to hosting large scale events. This prime piece of Myrtle Beach property is also home to the Carolina Country Music Fest, which draws thousands of event-goers from all across the country.
“With incredible views of the ocean and many fantastic amenities within easy walking distance, this is a perfect location for this event,” said Karen Riordan, president and CEO of Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are excited to welcome hundreds of Chiliheads to our community this spring.”
