Myrtle Beach also won first place for the best large, in-line booth. There was a lot of buzz in the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk themed booth. We handed out a variety of pecans from Young’s Pecans as well as wine, homemade crackers and dip supplied by Duplin Winery.
Awards Presented at Annual State Tourism Conference
Governor Henry McMaster presented tourism industry achievement awards last week to two special events and a hospitality employee during the annual South Carolina Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Travel. Two of those awards went to Myrtle Beach area partners - Brookgreen Gardens and Maribeth LaMuraglia of Dagwood’s Deli and Sports Bar in Surfside Beach.
2018 Fred P. Brinkman Award Presented to Brad Dean
Last week, during the South Carolina Governor’s Conference on Tourism, the South Carolina Travel and Tourism Coalition presented the 2018 Fred P. Brinkman Award to Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC). The award recognizes individuals who made exemplary leadership contributions to the travel and tourism industry in South Carolina throughout their professional careers.

Airport Visitors Center Welcomes Record Number of Travelers
The Official Myrtle Beach Area Airport Welcome Center, operated by Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, greeted a record number of tourists this past year. Almost nine times as many visitors stopped by the chamber’s welcome center at the Myrtle Beach International Airport in 2017 compared to 2016.
