Dorian has passed with minimal impacts to the area and like you, we are ready to welcome more people than ever to the Myrtle Beach area. This past weekend, we notified our visitors that Dorian had left the area and that our beaches were in great shape. We also reactivated the “Stretch Your Summer” fall campaign in all markets. HURRICANE FLORENCE BENEFIT CONCERT RAISES OVER $128,000 FOR LOCAL RELIEF
Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune announced this morning that $128,324.36 was raised through the Hurricane Florence Benefit Concert held last month at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The proceeds will be shared between the Eastern South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Waccamaw Community Foundation with each organization receiving $64,162.18.
Evacuation Route Needed for Hurricane Prone Area
When proponents of Interstate 73 talk about our area’s need for interstate access, it’s easy to focus on the obvious economic benefits, but the interstate will also bring much needed diversification to our tourism-based economy, with more year-round jobs for residents. It will also boost our tourism industry by 7.1 percent, which translates into an additional $909.9 million direct tourism spending in the Myrtle Beach area.

The Myrtle Beach community is coming together to help our neighbors impacted by Hurricane Florence with a benefit concert on November 11, 2018 with appearances from many of your favorite country artists. While our community is grateful that the storm did not wreak much havoc on our beautiful 60-mile shoreline, we are well aware that our neighbors were significantly impacted by Florence and the subsequent flooding. In the spirit of giving to those in need, many Grand Strand businesses are extending special discounts and offers to people who have been displaced by this terrible storm.

In anticipation of the potential effects of Hurricane Florence, the Help the Grand Strand disaster recovery fund is now accepting donations. The funds collected for the “Help The Grand Strand” disaster recovery fund will be used for human services that may be unmet, enabling the residents of the entire Grand Strand area to recover as quickly as possible.
