DHEC is working with local municipalities, counties, and other partners to improve the communication strategy for the Beach Monitoring Program. We will be presenting information about the Beach Monitoring Program and the updated communication strategy in the Grand Strand area and in Columbia in March. We encourage anyone that can to attend.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) samples and tests waters at 120 locations along South Carolina’s coast. If high numbers for bacteria are found, a short-term swim advisory is issued for that portion of the beach.
