Myrtle Beach Recognized as 9th Best Small American City
The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Visit Myrtle Beach are pleased to announce that Myrtle Beach was ranked ‘9th 'Best Small American City' by Resonance Consultancy, the leading advisors in real estate, tourism, and economic development for countries, cities, and communities. The annual America's Best Cities Report ranks the 50 Best Large American Cities, as well as the 50 Best Small American Cities.
Resonance Consultancy developed this comprehensive American city ranking to quantify and benchmark the relative quality of a place, reputation and competitive identity for U.S. principal cities. The analysis compared 23 factors in six key categories using a combination of core statistics and online ratings and reviews. It's a tool that helps cities understand their strengths and weaknesses through the lens of the people who matter most: their residents and visitors.
As the smallest city in the Top 10, both in city and surrounding metropolitan population, Myrtle Beach's strong finish among Small Cities is driven by its high ranking in three of the six categories. In the “Product” category, which measures attractions, accessibility, infrastructure and more, Myrtle Beach earned a #4 ranking. This impressive standing is undoubtedly fueled by a #1 ranking in the “attractions” sub category and a #6 in “Connectivity,” due to the efforts of the Horry County Airport and its partners.
“Promotion” is measured based on the number of stories, references and recommendations shared online about that city. Partially because Myrtle Beach ranks second for Facebook check-ins, the city earned a Promotion ranking of #3. Myrtle Beach is also ranked #8 in “Programming,” which measures the experiential pillars of a great visit: food, shows, shopping and nightlife.
“It’s no surprise to us that Myrtle Beach is once again on the top-ten list of America’s Best Small Cities,” said Karen Riordan, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “Our 60 miles of beautiful coastline attracts many visitors here for the first time, and our southern hospitality, wealth of entertainment and dining options and great climate bring many back here to live, work and play.”
