Inviting Visitors Back Following Dorian

Dorian has passed with minimal impacts to the area and like you, we are ready to welcome more people than ever to the Myrtle Beach area. This past weekend, we notified our visitors that Dorian had left the area and that our beaches were in great shape. We also reactivated the “Stretch Your Summer” fall campaign in all markets. Here are a few highlights of how we’re inviting visitors back to Myrtle Beach following Dorian:

ASSISTING VISITORS WITH PLANNING

Our visitor services team has been working around the clock to assist visitors with their vacation plans via social, phone, website chat and in person at our welcome centers. Visitor inquiries have been primarily asking about area status for upcoming reservations and status of weekend events.

REAL TIME UPDATES ONLINE

Following the storm, we went live on Facebook with real time updates from the area so people could see that the coast is clear and the weather is great. We also provided regular updates on VisitMyrtleBeach.com and all social channels, as well as sent an email to all subscribers. Traveler tips following the storm were updated on the Storm Updates page. Visitors were also directed to the Fall Getaway Guide.

TURNING ALL FALL ADVERTISING BACK ON

We were paused during the storm, but we're back up and running with the “Stretch Your Summer” Fall Campaign which includes television and digital in nearly sixty markets. We also recently increased the media budget by $600,000 – full story.

MEDIA RELATIONS

We're reactivating our fall media efforts and working to get the message out that the Myrtle Beach area is open and ready to welcome guests. We'll be hosting a few influencers and media over the next few weeks and inviting even more next month. We’ve also distributed a national release highlighting the new fall 60-hour itineraries

HOW PARTNERS CAN GET INVOLVED
